Shadows of the Past
Winnifred "Winnie" Waring Willowby
A privileged heiress coming west to learn life's hard lessons before settling down.
red hair, green eyes
well-dressed even in work pants, always kempt and put together
Winnifred, or Winnie as her family and friends call her, is the eldest child of two to the New York City-based railroad baron Edgar Harris Willowby. While her younger brother Jacob is desired by the family to be the heir to the railroad empire Jacob’s fragile and sickly condition requires Winnie to be prepared to inherit the family business due to the stress managing it can bring. Winnie is very close to her entire family and gladly accepts the responsiblity to take over when her father passes, but bristles at the secluded and insulated life she has lived until now.
Combining her desires to see the untamed frontier and to “live” before settling down with her father’s desires to teach her the final necessarry lessons about managing an empire Winnie has headed for the Cauldron. She has been tasked with doing what is necessarry to extend the railways of her family empire to Lazarus and beyond, all while also being responsible for helping her Uncle Garret and his new wife run their general store. The hard work that is expected to come from working in a frontier general store can only be good for one’s character and appreciation of the finer things in life, after all.
